USA Artistic Swimming Team Bring Talents—and Olympic Medals—to Maui
Olympics fans can watch the silver-medal swimmers perform at Wailea Beach Resort on Oct. 13.
A taste of this year’s Summer Olympics is coming to Maui as USA’s Artistic Swimming team brings their silver medal-winning performances to the shores of Wailea.
On Sunday, Oct. 13, the team will wow guests at a one-of-a-kind performance in Wailea Beach Resort’s Maluhia infinity-edge pool. This up-close and personal performance starts at 4 p.m. with an exclusive cocktail reception to follow, giving guests the opportunity to meet the athletes.

This special event is free and open to guests of Wailea Beach Resort, as well as day pass holders. Day pass options include an overwater cabana at the Maluhia infinity pool or a lounge chair or daybed at the new adults-only Olakino spa pool experience.
The opportunity to see an artistic swimming team that medaled at the Olympics is fairly rare—it’s been 20 years since the last time that Team USA stood on the podium.

Those who watched the Summer Games in Paris might remember the team for its Michael Jackson-themed technical routine, set to “Smooth Criminal,” complete with swimsuits inspired by MJ’s love for military jackets. The performance went viral thanks to their incredible athletic feat of performing the moonwalk upside down and under water.

This particular routine was three years in the making, including time that the athletes spent working with performers from Cirque du Soleil’s “One” show in order to learn some of Jackson’s original moves to incorporate into the routine.
Of the eight athletes who now hold silver medals, all but one were new to the Olypmics. They’re riding the high of their win with a trip to Hawaiʻi to perform at Wailea Beach Resort, known for its variety of stunning pools. The backdrop of the Pacific Ocean behind Wailea Beach Resort’s Maluhia serenity pool in the late afternoon will certainly help elevate the beauty of their performances.
