Sprawling across a beautiful 12-acre beachfront estate, Paradise Cove in Ko Olina hosts an impressive lūʻau with cultural activities, delicious food and entertaining performances. What sets this show apart from others on the island is an immersive experience that begins with a warm aloha greeting with mai tais, and a scheduled time where guests can walk around the grounds to try their hand at ancient Hawaiian games, like spear throwing, rolling stone disks and dart sliding. Before the feast begins, there is a hukilau on the beach where guests can pull fishing nets from the sea in rhythm to Hawaiian chants. Afterwards, guests can enjoy a lavish feast of traditional Hawaiian dishes and local favorites, followed by authentic dances and performances from Hawaiian and Polynesian cultures. 92-1089, Aliʻinui Dr., Kapolei.

2. Aliʻi Lūʻau at the Polynesian Cultural Center

Located within the popular Polynesian Cultural Center on Oʻahu’s North Shore, the Ali‘i Lūʻau is one of the largest in Hawai‘i and is a must-visit during your trip to Oʻahu. The show offers everything from traditional games and lessons on canoe paddling, starting fires and cooking. At the center, guests can interact with friendly performers who represent different Polynesian villages. The evening continues with a dinner of Hawaiian and local cuisine, including the kālua pork—the pig is roasted in an underground imu (an underground pit for roasting meats and other food) that is served together with an all-you-can-eat buffet. As you wrap up dinner, its signature hula and fire show close out the night. 55-370 Kamehameha Highway, Lāʻie

Labeled as the original backyard Hawaiian lūʻau, Germaine’s Lūʻau is laidback and relaxed, with a more intimate vibe compared to the other lūʻau. Located near Barber’s Point Lighthouse in Kapolei, Germaine’s was once a seaside residence of the Stephensons’ family. They were known by the local community for their generous hospitality in hosting regular lūʻau as a family tradition. While their lūʻau have evolved throughout the years, the same aloha spirit continues on with a fond aloha greeting with a Hawaiian shell lei, the sound of the conch shell, picture-taking opportunities, hula lessons and performances, plus an all-you-can eat buffet. 91-119 Olai St., Kapolei.

4. Aloha Kai Lūʻau

Found in O‘ahu’s Sea Life Park, Aloha Kai Luʻau offers guests the opportunity to participate in traditional activities like Polynesian tattoos, coconut weaving, ‘ukulele playing, kūpe‘e making and more. There are opportunities to watch cultural performances such as coconut tree climbing, a coconut demonstration and hula performances during dinner. Watch an unearthing imu ceremony and pile your plate high with juicy kālua pork, huli huli chicken, poi, lomi lomi salmon and more. The live music and dancing are followed by a thrilling fire knife show. 41-202 Kalanianaole Highway, Waimanālo.

He is also known as one of the best and funniest Polynesian entertainers around and hosts this lūʻau together with his ‘ohana (family). Sip on a mai tai cocktail and indulge in a decadent Hawaiian feast of traditional and local cuisine. The dinner is also accompanied by a captivating Polynesian show with a memorable fire knife finale. 400 Farrington Highway, Kapolei.
