HAWAII Magazine staffers Catherine Toth Fox and Kevin Allen are back again this week, this time with a friend!

John Clark joins Cat and Kevin to talk about his lifelong passion, surfing. Noted author and surf historian, Clark has published six books detailing how certain surf spots and beaches got their names, such as Hawaii Place Names and Hawaiian Surfing. As avid surfers themselves, Cat and Kevin pick his brain and discuss why their favorite spots are called what they are.

If you love Hawaii, or are just curious as to how your favorite beach or surf break got its name, grab one of John Clark’s books off Amazon.
