Let’s face it: Sometimes a vacation is getting away from kids. Yours and others.

While Maui has the adults-only Hotel Wailea, Oʻahu, which sees the bulk of visitors, hasn’t had anything like that.

Until this summer.

Opening on June 1, Romer House Waikīkī on Nāhua Street will be the island’s first—and only—adults-only hotel. It’s located on a cross street between Kūhiō Avenue and Ala Wai Boulevard, less than a block from the International Market Place and a 10-minute walk to the beach.

Run by Highgate Hotels—which also renovated and opened the family-friendly Romer Waikīkī at the Ambassador last year—Romer House Waikīkī has 179 guest rooms, many of which have large-scale glass sliding doors and lānai overlooking bustling Waikīkī.

Your visit starts with a celebratory cocktail, with an “Aloha Line” phone number to call or text for personalized recommendations and insider tips about the neighborhood and adventuring around Oʻahu.

On the second floor of the hotel is area known as The Backyard, which features a pool and bar that serves as a relaxing (read: no kids) social hub for guests. The on-site restaurant Izakaya 855-Aloha will serve bentos and the bar’s daylong menu features katsu sandwiches, milk-bread bun burgers, tropical frozen cocktails, sake and more. The splash-free pool is surrounded by cabana daybeds and loungers. (The izakaya stays open late, too.)

Romer House will also serve as a steward of the King Kalākaua Park and offer various wellness amenities and local collaborations, such as pool deck wellness classes, in-room spa bundles, bike rentals and a signature house scent. Rates start at $195 per night, and reservations are available now.
