Hawaiʻi takes its firework shows seriously. On New Year’s Eve, beaches are lined with eager crowds waiting for midnight to strike as the night sky lights up with dazzling fireworks. From the shores of Waikīkī to the sands of Wailea, there are dozens of firework displays across the Islands to ring in 2025.

Here are some of the best places to be this coming New Year’s Eve if you want a front-row seat to one of these epic fireworks shows.

Hauʻoli Makahiki Hou! (Happy New Year!)

Oʻahu:

Waikīkī New Year’s Fireworks Show

The New Year’s fireworks display in Waikīkī is one of the island’s signature celebrations. At the stroke of midnight, the sky over Waikīkī will be lit with electrifying colors and bright lights. You can set up chairs or blankets along Waikīkī Beach. The event is known for drawing crowds of people, but you can still see the firework display away from the beach—a hotel balcony with an ocean view is perfect.

Sky Waikīkī’s New Year’s Eve Countdown Party

Countdown to midnight at Sky Waikīkī, where you can celebrate the new year at one of Waikīkī’s top rooftop bars—and with one of the best views of the fireworks show, too.

Maui:

New Year’s Eve Fireworks in Wailea

On the Valley Isle, it’s a popular tradition to watch the New Year’s Eve fireworks in Wailea. Fireworks shoot from a barge just off the beach fronting the Grand Wailea Resort. The show is visible from one of many beaches in Wailea.

Another spectacular way to see the Wailea fireworks show is to embark on a special New Year’s Eve cruise. The Pacific Whale Foundation offers multiple New Year’s Eve cocktail cruises departing from Maʻalaea Harbor. Guests can indulge in decadent desserts, enjoy special cocktails and celebrate midnight with a champagne toast. Pride of Maui also hosts a New Year’s Eve Cruise, where guests have a front-row seat to the fireworks show. You can also watch the fireworks with Trilogy, a locally owned and operated Maui boat tour. Trilogy is offering an exciting adults-only tour, with top-shelf cocktails and top-notch bites. You can also celebrate the New year on a luxury catamaran with Aliʻi Nui. Sail under the stars and sip champagne as you watch the fireworks light up the sky.

Kauaʻi:

New Year’s Eve Fireworks at Poʻīpu Beach

The fireworks show at Poʻīpu Beach is a yearly tradition, and one of the best places to see the Kauaʻi sky light up on New Year’s Eve. The show typically begins around 8:15 p.m., perfect for families with young keiki.

Hawaiʻi Island

New Year’s Eve Show at the Hilton Waikoloa

Enjoy your New Year’s Eve night under the stars at the Lagoon Lānaʻi at the Hilton Waikoloa. There’ll be a fireworks display at 9 p.m. above the saltwater lagoon, and you can enjoy a variety of dining options from the resort’s in-house restaurants. While this celebration doesn’t go until midnight, you can party it up at the Kona Tap Room until 2024 turns into 2025.
