Hawaiian music, food and fireworks at Waikiki benefit concert for Haiti, Feb. 12

If you are in Waikiki on the evening of Feb. 12, you may want to find yourself a spot under the stars on the Hilton Hawaiian Village’s Great Lawn, alongside the Duke Kahanamoku Lagoon.
The hotel is spearheading an “Island to Island for Haiti” benefit concert.
What’s in it for you? Great music and food.
The event kicks off at 5 p.m., just in time for the sunset. The concert headliners include Cecilio & Kapono, Amy Hanaialii, Jimmy Borges. Ledward Kaapana, Raiatea Helm (pictured, below), Taimane Gardner, Afatia Thompson and the ladies and gentlemen of Tihati Productions. All of it capped off by a fireworks display at 8 p.m.
And food? Nine other major Oahu hotels will join in the Hilton Hawaiian Village in creating food stations—Halekulani, Hilton Prince Kuhio, Hyatt Waikiki, Kahala Hotel & Resort, Marriott Waikiki, Westin Moana Surfrider, Sheraton Waikiki, Sheraton Princess Kaiulani and The Royal Hawaiian.
Not to mention a host of other beverage suppliers including Anheuser-Busch, Coca-Cola, Kona Brewing and Southern Wine and Spirits.
Tickets will be available at the Hilton Hawaiian Village beginning Feb. 8, for a suggested $20 donation, or can be purchased at the event.
Food booths will serve samplings for just $3 a plate. Beer, wine, water and soft drinks will be priced at just $3 each. (There’s also a $5 parking deal at the Hilton and neighboring Hale Koa Hotel.)
Here’s the best part: One hundred percent of the proceeds will go to the American Red Cross Haiti Relief and Development Fund.
It’s a chance to do good while having what promises to be a great time.
