Family Vacations are Memorable and Made Simple at Waimea Plantation Cottages on Kauaʻi
This is where families vacation together on the Garden Isle.

Do you remember a family vacation when all the kids, parents, cousins, aunts, uncles and grandparents squeezed around a table that seemed way too small—but nobody cared? Or the raucous family barbecue after a long beach day, when you got sand all over the floor but everyone was having the best time?
Do you recall how laughter and love overflowed?
Create those magical moments for your entire ʻohana at Waimea Plantation Cottages. Tucked away in peaceful West Kauaʻi, the resort spans 43 acres and fronts the island’s only black-sand beach. Here, you can find 59 one- to five-bedroom vintage Hawaiʻi homes set on sprawling green lawns.

The cottages, built between the late 1880s and 1930s, strongly tie the resort to Hawaiʻi’s agricultural history. During this time waves of immigrants came to the Islands to build and settle with their families.
Today, your ʻohana can stay on this historic property and create an idyllic home-away-from-home. With spaces that can accommodate two to 10 guests, families have the ability to stay together in one large cottage. Or you can also split into multiple accommodations—all just a short walk away from each other. You don’t have to leave the property, either: Share a meal together, gather at the oceanfront pool or walk along the beach as the sun sets.
The Perfect Accommodations for Family Vacations: The Premium Cottage Collection
Among the 59 cottages, there are four special cottages that sleep six to 10 guests. These homes, The Premier Cottage Collection, are so unique that reservations can only be made by calling the property directly.
- The five-bedroom, 4.5-bath oceanfront home was once occupied by the manager of the Waimea Sugar Co. The home offers a full kitchen, multiple dining areas and a large outdoor lānai that looks out to the ocean.
- Surrounded by large open lawns, the five-bedroom, five-bath garden-view cottage is a gracious, two-story, craftsman-style home with spacious rooms.
- A lānai runs the length of the four-bedroom oceanfront home, creating a peaceful place for lounging and watching the island’s spectacular sunsets. The open-plan living and dining area offers a comfortable gathering place for families.
- The private, three-bedroom oceanfront home at the edge of the property has lush plantings, spacious indoor and outdoor dining areas and two separate lānai.
Guests staying in these homes have access to all the resort’s amenities: oceanfront pool, sand-bottom volleyball court, complimentary DVD movies for in-cottage viewing and the on-property restaurant.
The Stunning Natural Beauty of West Kauai

Two of the most spectacular natural attractions on Kauaʻi dominate the island’s West Side. Plus, everyone in your family can experience them.
Waimea Canyon is a short drive from the property—and it is not to be missed. Nicknamed the Grand Canyon of the Pacific, you’ll be in awe of the sharp cliffs and rugged crags, painted in stripes of red, brown and green. You can drive to the lookouts for splendid views or venture to Kōkeʻe State Park, which boasts more than 50 miles of hiking trails, including some in and around the canyon.

The resort is also conveniently located near the boat harbor for tours to see the fabled Nāpali Coast. You can embark on a journey of a lifetime to see this breathtaking coastline. As you take in the views of the verdant sea cliffs, you might even spot dolphins and other marine life, too.
