When The Stars Align, Magic Happens at this Maui Hotel
Inspired by celestial wonders, The Hyatt Regency Maui Resort and Spa is designing out-of-this-world experiences for guests.

From once-in-a-life time activities to connecting with the local culture of a destination, travelers are seeking memorable and meaningful experiences.
And sometimes these experiences come from celestial activity in sky.
Last April, a total solar eclipse moved across North America, crossing 15 U.S. states. During a total solar eclipse, the moon passes between the sun and the Earth, completely obscuring the face of the sun. For a few minutes, the sky goes dark as if it were dawn or dusk. After last year’s affair, a solar eclipse will not be visible in the U.S. for another 20 years—and people didn’t want to miss it.
An estimated 12 million people traveled in the U.S. to find the best spot to view the rare total solar eclipse on April 8, 2024, according to the consumer insights firm Lisa W. Miller & Associates.
While there’s no total solar eclipse in the forecast, a lunar eclipse is approaching. On March 13, 2025, a lunar eclipse will take place. A lunar eclipse happens when the Earth’s shadow falls on the moon, making it appear dimmer or red. This only happens during a full moon when the Earth is between the sun and moon.
To commemorate the event, The Hyatt Regency Maui Resort and Spa in Kāʻanapali is inviting hotel guests to a special viewing activity on its Halona Kai Lawn. Guided by the resort’s resident NASA Solar System Ambassador, guests will have the opportunity to gaze through a high-powered telescope to witness this celestial phenomenon up close (weather and cloud coverage permitting). The viewing event is paired with a stellar movie night.
