All the brand new Ala Moana stores you can start shopping right now

This morning marks the grand opening of Ala Moana Center’s much-anticipated Ewa Wing expansion and to celebrate there’s way more to do than just shop (but believe of us, there’s still a lot of that too).
Let’s start with the stores. Ala Moana is boasting an upswing up nearly 100 or so retailers, but not all are 100 percent new to the center or within the confines of the Ewa Wing. Many are relocating as tenants from a previous storefront or a new face, but elsewhere in the center, so we’re focusing on just the Ewa Wing.

Special musical entertainment and a kahiko (traditional) performance by more than 100 hula dancers including a Hawaiian blessing, a Chinese Lion Dance and runway shows every hour starting at noon on Saturday and Sunday are just a few events sprinkled throughout the day and weekend you can expect on its center grounds.
Speaking of sprinkles, Magnolia Bakery, the famous New York City staple, is giving out complimentary cupcakes to get everyone in the shopping spirit.
Another major brand with a New York legacy, Bloomingdale’s, also promises to cater towards a local consumer base with its thoughtful designed sales floor. Shuttered plantation-style panels dividing the handbags space from the cosmetics floor. Neon signs illuminated with phrases like “you had me at aloha.” Signage with more local greetings fashioned out of vintage Hawaii postcards.
These are just a few of the many local touches Hawaii’s first Bloomingdale’s, arguably the anchor store of Ala Moana Center’s much-anticipated Ewa Wing expansion, brings to shoppers today. Yes, Nordstrom, a direct competitor, sets up shop in the Ewa Wing, but not until March 2016 and shoppers have grown accustomed to its offerings since it first introduced itself to Honolulu’s retail market in 2008.
