A Modern Twist on the Old Kodak Hula Show Coming to Waikīkī Soon
The new Kilohana Hula Show will debut at the Tom Moffatt Waikiki Shell on Feb. 15.

Remember the old Kodak Hula Show at the Waikīkī Shell?
Well, it’s coming back—sort of.
The city, along with the Council for Native Hawaiian Advancement, announced yesterday that a new hula show at the same location will launch on Feb. 15. Called the Kilohana Hula Show, it will be a free, hour-long performance of authentic hula featuring dancers from hālau that competed in the prestigious Merrie Monarch Hula Festivaland from the renowned Old Lahaina Lūʻau on Maui. The show will also feature a pop-up craft fair featuring products and crafts made in the Islands.
The show will run from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Sunday through Thursday at the amphitheatre at the Tom Moffatt Waikīkī Shell.
“This is going to be an instant success from Day One,” said Mufi Hannemann, Hawaiʻi Tourism Authority chair, at an announcement for the new show.

The old Kodak Hula Show ended in 2002.
According to Bishop Museum, the first show was held in 1937. It was put on hold during World War II, then resumed in 1949. It moved to the Waikīki Shell in 1969, where it stayed until it closed.
