Inaugural Made in Maui County Festival all about Maui, Molokai and Lanai products

Imagine a one-stop shop where you could buy hundreds of unique locally made products and also meet the people who made them. If you’re on Maui this weekend, you’re in luck.

The inaugural Made in Maui County Festival will convene more than 130 businesses from Maui, Molokai and Lanai to showcase their noshes and wares. The one-day-only festival will be held this Sat., Nov. 8 at the Maui Arts & Cultural Center in Kahului.

The event is modeled after the successful Made in Hawaii Festival, held in Honolulu and now in its 20th year. The first Made in Maui County Festival is expected to draw 6,000 to 8,000 visitors and residents.

Doors open at 8 a.m. and it’s worth it to be early—the first 2,000 attendees will receive a free shopping tote.

Unique made in Maui County products such as screen-printed t-shirts from 808 Clothing, Maui pineapple wine from Ulupalakua Vineyards, bread from Molokai’s Kanemitsu’s Bakery and gourmet goat cheese truffles from Surfing Goat Dairy will all be available for purchase. There will also be jewelry, pottery, art, fashion, produce and food trucks, too.

In addition to shopping, the full lineup of Made in Maui County Fest activities includes demonstrations—making the perfect cup of MauiGrown coffee, and the chance to Color Your Own Maui t-shirts, among them—a fashion show, prize drawings and book readings with area authors. The festival will wind down with a mojito-mixing lesson, using Maui Brand Sugar and Hawaiian Sea Spirits, with award-winning bartender Gabriel Harvey from Ferraro’s at the Four Seasons Resort Maui at Wailea.

Public admission to the festival is $3 per person. Children age 12 and under are free. Parking is available at the Maui Arts & Cultural Center as well as at the University of Hawaii Maui College.

The Made in Maui County Festival is co-presented by the Mayor’s Office of Economic Development and the Maui Chamber of Commerce.
