Trust me when I say this: You’ve never had Korean food in Hawaiʻi quite like this. Onkee opened last year, with a menu boasting modern South Korean cuisine prepared by Michelin restaurant-trained chefs from Korea. Think traditional yukhoe (Korean-style beef tartare), beef shank salad and japcha, seafood platters with uni or caviar upgrades, braised short rib, high-end Miyazaki wagyu and the one of the best kimchi fried rice in the Islands. Its happy hour is a great way to sample Onkee’s menu. Served at the bar, it has truffle tune poke ($14), neobiani (smashed kalbi steak, $19), skewers of rib eye and mushrooms ($17), braised short rib with rice ($18) and spicy kimchi salad ($18), in addition to discounts on beers and cocktails.

Cocktails and beer discounts, too. Happy hour runs from 3 to 5 p.m. at the table, 3 to 6 p.m. at the bar.
