With more than 20 locations in the U.S., Sugar Factory American Brasserie is now serving its Instagrammable goblet drinks and extravagant desserts on Oʻahu.

The chain opened on April 10 at Ala Moana Center, in the space vacated by Islands Fine Burgers & Drinks in the Hoʻokipa Terrace. Along with its extensive menu of burgers, sandwiches, milkshakes and cocktails, it’s also serving Hawaiʻi-exclusive dishes including the Dakine Burger (with grilled pineapple and guava barbecue sauce on a taro bun), hamachi crudo (with raw potato salad, chili pepper water and shaved shishido peppers), and the Aliʻi banana cream milkshake (topped with caramelized apple bananas and served with mini pancakes).

Sugar Factory is best known for its 32-ounce goblet drinks—with or without alcohol—thanks to endorsements by celebrities like Kendall Jenner, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and Bruno Mars who have all created their own signature cocktails. While there are no Hawaiʻi-only cocktails—yet!—there are plenty of tropical concoctions to choose from, like Miami Tropical Punch (with pineapple juice and coconut rum) and the Mai Tai (with fresh orange and pineapple juices and coconut rum). Up to four people can share this goblet; the restaurant does offer smaller drinks, including margaritas and mimosas.

The chain was founded by Las Vegas-based restaurateur Charissa Davidovici in 2009. Since then, more than 20 other restaurants have opened in some of the world’s most cosmopolitan cities, including New York City, Chicago, Las Vegas, Dubai and Manila. Now you can add Honolulu to that list.

The Hawaiʻi location offers everything you would find at a Sugar Factory anywhere in the U.S., including the Flaming Hot Cheetos Burger, the famous 24 Karat Gold Burger draped with edible 24-karat gold leaf and matching milkshake (for $150!), and the triple-decked club sandwich. Right now, though, the restaurant isn’t ready to serve many of the breakfast/brunch dishes and some items, like the popular Rainbow Sliders, aren’t available yet.

But soon!

One of the Hawaiʻi-exclusive milkshakes—which should be available soon—is the Dole Whip milkshake. This coconut ice cream shake is topped with toasted coconut, lime zest, pineapple wedges and two mini Leonard’s Bakery haupia malasadas. The Insane Double Stack Rainbow Pancakes is another signature dish, only sold in limited quantities in Honolulu. The stack of fluffy colorful buttermilk pancakes are served with warm maple syrup and a ton of chocolate chips, gummies, strawberries and rainbow sprinkles.

Despite its price—$99—people in Honolulu have been ordering the famous King Kong Sundae, an extravagant sundae made with 20 scoops of ice cream covered with hot fudge, caramel and strawberry sauces, caramelized banana, marshmallows, chocolate chip cookie chunks, a glazed donut, a vanilla cupcake, white chocolate strawberry, gummy bears, candies, cookie crumbles, rainbow and chocolate sprinkles, My teeth hurt just thinking about it!

Sugar Factory is truly a unique atmosphere, with lots of cute places to snap selfies.

Breakfast service hadn’t started yet, but you know where you can find me when it does.
